A recent disaster planning exercise undertaken by a state health department team brought the value of a tool like HydroChem’s Clarity portal into sharp focus.

Our powerful online monitoring platform places the details and performance of our client’s assets at their fingertips, day and night.

The scenario was a drill, but the communication was abundantly clear in its messaging:

“This is an exercise, please treat it as a confirmed Legionella case.”

Our client received the notification from its state’s public health unit with further details regarding a Legionnaires disease outbreak scenario exercise being undertaken in their area. It went on to say that council’s records indicated that their premises had a cooling water system.

As such, they were requested to provide the following information urgently to help the investigation:

  • Their last three months of Form 3, including microbial results.
  • Their latest Risk Management Reporting (RMP).
  • Their latest audit report.
  • Any remedial action reports for the previous three months, particularly relating to high microbiological counts, additional cleaning and maintenance.

In accordance with the state’s public health regulations, the owner or occupier of the premises had to ensure that the required information was provided (in either electronic or paper form) to an authorised officer within four business hours of the request being made.

Our client, using their own login on the HydroChem Clarity platform, had downloaded the required information and was ready to provide a response to the request within four minutes of receiving the notification.

Clarity is an evolving tool that provides detailed visualisations of a client’s portfolio performance in real-time. Clarity allows our clients to drill down into the health of its individual assets, review current exception reports and download detailed review reporting.
