One of Australia’s largest cloud-based storage providers engaged HydroChem during the early commissioning stage of its latest state-of-the-art, hyperscale data centre in Melbourne five years ago. The passivation of the facility’s galvanised cooling components during the commissioning phase was a critical step in extending the life of the equipment and avoiding costly future downtime.

The data centre operator’s own planned maintenance program uncovered the exceptional success of this passivation five years on. The challenge they set HydroChem was to provide an intensive chemical clean that would not damage the fully intact passivate layer.
