2011 Premier’s Sustainability Awards

HydroChem congratulates Godfrey Hirst on winning both the Large Business category and the Premier’s Recognition category of the 2011 Premiers’ Sustainability Awards.

A major component of Godfrey Hirst’s submission was the Water Recycling Facility commissioned in June 2010. The Water Recycling Facility was designed, built and commissioned by HydroChem. This $3.5M state-of-the-art facility saves up to 250 million litres of water a year. The system is designed to reprocess 175 million litres of effluent production water along with 75 million litres of captured storm water. The recycled water is processed to Class A quality for reuse throughout the manufacturing facility.

The water recycling facility at Godfrey Hirst will also save energy and reduce waste by cutting energy use by 5 per cent a year (15,712 billion joules) and will reduce trade waste discharge by up to 70 per cent a year (175 million litres).
