A remote hydrometallurgical project requiring large volumes of water sought assistance with a biofouling problem. Several reverse osmosis (RO) trains were working around the clock purifying feed water for the plant, in addition to servicing the drinking water needs of a town of almost 1,000 people.

The challenge was to find a single effective NSF certified biocide that counteracted the bacteria and penetrated the biofilm without causing any damage to the RO membranes.

This case study focuses on a comparison between the performance data for the plant’s treated and untreated RO trains. The results are undeniable and unequivocally demonstrate the efficiency of HydroChem’s bespoke biocide treatment programs.
