On 12 April 2017 the Victorian Department of Health released an alert advising that “Five cases of Legionnaires’ disease (Legionella pneumophila, serogroup 1) have been identified in the last fortnight involving individuals who have spent time in the eastern half of Melbourne’s Central Business District (CBD) and/or Southbank.” News reports have advised that 3 buildings are being investigated.

HydroChem has been in contact with the Victorian Department of Health. The Department has NOT indicated to HydroChem that any of the locations it services are under investigation.

As a precautionary measure, the Department has advised that all cooling tower systems within a 500m radius of the corner of Russell St and Little Collins St be disinfected. HydroChem is providing services to its clients to ensure all cooling tower systems within the designated zone are disinfected as advised by the Department.

Please contact HydroChem if you have any further queries.
